Seoul Myeongdong

Among the detailed programs of Seoul Winter Festa 2026, the city’s winter festival, several events that are easy to reach from Myeongdong will take place one after another. The Seoul Plaza skating rink operates from December 18, 2026 to February 9, 2027, while Seoul Light DDP at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), featuring a media facade on the building’s exterior wall, a Christmas town, and a New Year countdown, runs from December 11 to January 31. Seoul Con, held at DDP from December 29 to January 1, will include K-beauty booths and K-POP programs. Seoul Plaza is about a 10-minute walk from central Myeongdong, and DDP is right in front of Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station (Lines 2, 4, and 5), so both are easy to combine with a shopping day and visit in the evening. Skating rink fees, admission methods, and each event’s operating hours can change from year to year, so check the official website before you visit. If you are having a skin or beauty procedure or dental care in the Myeongdong area, bring a mask and scarf so the treated area is not exposed to cold air for long, and it is safer to put off activities where you could fall, such as skating, until after the point your medical team permits. The 2026 Jeongdong Night Walk (theme: "Jeongdong, Dressed in New Light"), organized by Seoul's Jung-gu, takes place around Deoksugung Palace and Jeongdong on Friday, October 30 (6-10 pm) and Saturday, October 31 (2-10 pm). Thirty-four historic and cultural venues, including museums, galleries and religious sites, take part, and an opening performance starts at 6:30 pm on the 30th in front of Junghwajeon Hall at Deoksugung. Announced programs include organ and classical performances at venues such as Jeongdong First Methodist Church, a media facade and XR experience at the Paichai Historical Museum, guided walking tours with cultural interpreters, a stamp tour, and hands-on activities such as night-view drawing and mood-lamp making. Programs and hours may change, so please check the Jung-gu official notice before you go. Jeongdong lies in the central Jung-gu area close to Myeongdong, so it can be a pleasant evening outing for modern architecture and night views between medical appointments.
