Songdo: a planned international city by the sea, linked to Incheon Airport by the Incheon Bridge

Incheon Songdo

Songdo International City is a planned city of the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ), built on reclaimed land in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It is linked to Incheon International Airport by the Incheon Bridge (about 21 km in total length), roughly 30 minutes by car, and Incheon Subway Line 1 (Campus Town, Technopark, Knowledge Information Industry Complex, Incheon National University, Central Park, International Business District and Songdo Moonlight Festival Park stations) runs through the city toward Bupyeong. At Songdo Central Park, Korea's first seawater park, you can take boats and water taxis, and the observation space on the 33rd floor of the IFEZ Authority's G-Tower is open free of charge. The city also has Tri-Bowl, Songdo Hanok Village, views of the Incheon Bridge from Solchan Park, Songdo Moonlight Festival Park (home of the Pentaport Rock Festival in August), the Songdo Convensia exhibition and convention center, and Incheon Global Campus. The Triple Street, Canal Walk and Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo areas are close by for meals and shopping. With the airport nearby, sea views and a comfortable new-town setting, Songdo suits short stays that combine medical care with rest.

💡 Travel Tips

Incheon Songdo — Travel Tips

✈️

Close to the airport: day trips possible

It takes around 30 minutes by car from Incheon International Airport across the Incheon Bridge, so an appointment fits well on the day of arrival or before departure. Travel time varies with traffic, so leave generous buffer time for departure-day visits.

🚇

Seoul by Incheon Line 1 or M-bus

You can take Incheon Subway Line 1 to Bupyeong Station and transfer toward Seoul, or use an express (M) bus. Travel time is roughly 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on transfers and traffic. Routes and timetables can change, so check before you travel.

🌙

Central Park evening walk (recovery)

Central Park has flat walking paths suited to gentle walks after a procedure, and in the evening you can see the lights of the surrounding buildings reflected on the waterway. Activity level and sun or outing restrictions differ by procedure, so follow your medical team's instructions.

🏨

Stay near Central Park or the International Business District

Accommodation clusters around Central Park Station and International Business District Station, so staying near an Incheon Line 1 station makes getting around easy. Before booking, check the distance to your hospital and any needs such as elevators or breakfast.

🌬️

Prepare for winter sea winds

Songdo is a new town near the sea, so the wind can make winter feel colder than the thermometer says. Bring a windproof coat and scarf for the park and shoreline, and avoid exposing treated areas to cold wind.

📱

SIM Card & Wi-Fi

Rent a SIM or pocket Wi-Fi at Incheon/Gimpo Airport. Free public Wi-Fi is available in subways, cafés, and public areas nationwide — arranging a travel SIM before arrival is the easiest option.
